Abstract

We report 13C n.m.r. data for the carbonyl carbon atoms of 28 electroneutral carbonyl complexes of platinum(II), prepared from enriched 13CO. The compounds include all three isomers of [PtClPh(CO)L] (L = Et3P, PhMe2P, Ph2MeP, or Ph3P) and several examples each of [PtX2(CO)L] and that isomer of [PtXR(CO)L] with L and R trans (R = Me, Et, Ph, or CH2Ph). The observed variations in both chemical shifts and 195Pt—13C coupling constants are compared with published data on related, mainly anionic or cationic, carbonyl complexes.
