Abstract

This chapter charts the emergence of St Andrews as the ecclesiastical capital of medieval Scotland and international pilgrim-destination. Accompanying it are 3 appendices, which include translations of 2 relevant 12th-century texts (the longer foundation account and the so-called Augustinian Account).
