Abstract

The University of Glasgow is expanding its provision for blended and online learning development (via the BOLD project), and alongside this strategic investment is extending its academic staff development provision to enable staff to make best use of technology-enhanced learning (TEL) approaches. The proposed remote session will provide an overview of formal and informal staff development provision; from workshops and developmental meetings to support the BOLD project programmes and courses, to credit-bearing offerings through the Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice (PGCAP), including a new elective 10-credit course. The session will provide an overview of staff development provision in this rapidly evolving area, and present the results of our evaluations to date. We would welcome debate around appropriate methods of engaging staff to ensure they are equipped to make the most effective use of TEL approaches in higher education.
