Abstract

Jan Čulík interviews Dr. Josef Švéda, the author of two seminal monographs on the construction of national and political myths in Central Europe. They discuss the differences between the English speaking and Central European Universities and Dr. Švéda´s new book on the construction of a representation of the United States by the Czechs over the past two centuries. (Země zaslíbená, země zlořečená [The Promised Land, the Accursed Land], 2016). The interview has been broadcast by the Czech cable TV station Regionalni televize from Friday 12th August, 2016.
