Abstract
This Expert Evidence chapter contains a survey of the areas of expertise of illicit drug analysis and forensic toxicology. These two fields are closely related and are often considered together. In both fields the definitive identification of a drug or drugs is central and the same techniques may be used, although the samples analysed and the concentrations of any drugs present are obviously very different.
