Abstract
This exhibition catalogue chapter details the remarkable collection of patient art compiled by Dr W A F Browne (1805-1885) at Dumfries in mid-nineteenth century Scotland. It is the oldest collection of art by a group of asylum patients in the world. This collection is a centrepiece of this exhibition 'L'Autre de L'Art, held in LAM, Lille, France in 2014.
