Abstract
A text on Anne-Marie Copestake's 2012 film 'And Under That...'. The film, which was commissioned as part of Copestake's receipt of the Margaret Tait award, is a significant piece in the artist's career, and the text attempts to give a thematic reading which relates it to key aspects of her work to date. Using ideas from Jean-Luc Nancy amongst others, the essay reads the film as structured by listening (in Nancy's expanded sense) as much as by seeing. The text appeared in a booklet funded by SCCA's 'Creative Practice Fund' alongside essays by Alice Andrews, Emma Forbes, Lauren McGhee. It was launched at CCA Glasgow alongside a screening of 4 artists' films.
