Abstract

This monograph is a study and translation of <i>The Scripture for Humane Kings Who Wish to Protect Their States</i>, one of the most important East Asian Buddhist apocrypha. The text played an important role both in Buddhist state cults across East Asia and in the development of Esoteric Buddhism.
