Abstract
This article examines two poems from the critically neglected collection País de la ausencia (1938–1940) by the Catalan poet Ana María Martínez Sagi. Drawing on the theoretical work of Deleuze, Guattari and Manuel De Landa, the article examines the strategies of signification within the poems, taking into consideration the materiality of poetic form, and argues that Sagi’s voice encapsulates the lost voice of the ‘vencidos’, not through recourse to political discourse, but by retreating into the sphere of memory and nostalgia.
