Abstract

This is the main philosophical work of Benjamin Fondane (1898-1944) which is representative of the French existential thought, following Léon Shestov's Philosophy of tragedy and the critic of rationalism. This book publisehd in 1936 includes essays on Gide, Heidegger, Husserl, Bergson, Kierkegaard and Shestov. This is the first critical and annotated edition of this book. La Conscience Malheureuse was forgotten following the deportation of Fondane in Birkenau where he died.
