Abstract
The complete recording of Haydn's 429 Scottish and Welsh folksong arrangements for Scottish publishers William Napier, George Thomson and William Whyte. The performers played and sang from the scholarly edition of Joseph Haydn Werke, Series XXXII Vols 1-5, ed. Geiringer (Vol. 1), Friesenhagen (Vol. 2), Rycroft, Edwards and McCue (Vols. 3 & 4) and Friesenhagen (Vol. 5). The CD box comprises 18 audio CDs accompanied by a CD_ROM which contains scholarly articles on 18th-century Scottish and Welsh song culture as well as the complete song texts with annotated glossary.
