Abstract

We consider the dynamics of an electron cloud with an initially Maxwellian electron distribution and a temperature significantly exceeding that of the surrounding plasma. It is demonstrated that only the fastest electrons propagate into the plasma as a beam-plasma structure, whereas the main part of the cloud of electrons is locked by the Langmuir turbulence generated by the electrons remaining.
