Abstract

We analyse the performance of a cylindrical-lens mode converter for transforming Hermite-Gaussian into Laguerre-Gaussian modes. Using a beam propagation program we examine the implications of incorrect lens positioning and focusing of the input mode. The output beam is analysed for various imperfections in the implementation of the converter.
