Abstract

Since its publication almost four decades, the most famous novel by the author Elena Poniatowska remains Until verte Jesus mio. Publicada como novela testimonial, esta narración -que sigue la vida de una mujer marginada del sur de México- se ha visto de diferentes formas a lo largo de su vida. Published as testimonial novel, the story that follows the lives of marginalized women in southern Mexico has been in different ways throughout his life. Al principio más énfasis fue colocado en que fue una especie de libro híbrido compuesto a base de entrevistas que Poniatowska tuvo con la mujer que usó para inspiración para la novela: Josefina Bórquez. Al tomar eso en cuenta, este artículo examina uno de los eventos sobrenaturales de la novela: un milagro realizado por el Santo Niño de Atocha, y lo considera su importancia bajo el lente del la crítica literaria y la historia oral. By taking this into account, this article examines one of the supernatural events of the novel: a miracle performed by the Holy Child of Atocha, and considers their importance under the lens of literary criticism, and oral history.
