Abstract

This paper provides a summary of the proceedings of the National Seminar on ‘Accomplished Teaching, Accomplished Teachers’ led by the GTCs and the University of Glasgow and sponsored by the Scottish Government. The focus of this seminar was to explore the concept of ‘accomplished teaching’ and its possible relevance in Scottish education. This paper begins with an overview of the context, purposes and process of the National Seminar followed by the key themes identified and then explored in the seminar. The set of questions that emerged from the discussions are detailed. This is followed by the proposals generated by each of the working groups. Thereafter the background to the National Seminar and a more detailed discussion of each of the four themes is provided. <br></br> <br></br> 1. Defining accomplishment<br></br> 2.
