Abstract

An electrode 340 comprises a surface region (342, figure 14 A), where least part of the surface region is a roughened portion. The roughness of said portion can be constrained about a mean change of surface profile, within the range of 200 nanometers (nm) to 1000 micrometers ([mu]m). More than one roughened portion may be provided on the electrode 340. The electrode 340 can be produced by a laser marking system, and may have a circular, arcuate or polygonal cross section. The electrode may be used in decontamination apparatus comprising a plasma generating arrangement through which a fluid is passed.
