Abstract

A systematically experimental study of hydraulic characteristics and fish test in vertical slot fishway to one side in a large scale model are carried out at Zhejiang University of Technology. Velocity profiles on the planes of 1/3 h(h denotes the pool depth corresponding to the discharge), 1/2 h and 2/3 h at different cross-section (x=0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100 cm) in two adjacent pools are systematically measured for each of five typical discharges. The characteristics of non-dimensional velocity profiles, the decay of the maximum velocity along flow direction as well as velocity variations at an identical pool depth with different discharges are analyzed. The response of different discharges are examined through fish test. The insufficiency and the improved measures for the vertical slot fishway to one side are suggested in this paper.
