Abstract

The number of Biomedical Engineering degree programmes offered worldwide is increasing. The underlying philosophy of the different programmes leads to different types of degrees with the students gained different balances and knowledge and skills. The balance between the amount of time spent on the fundamentals of engineering and biomedical sciences and in the applications of engineering principles in biomedical applications is important. The balance and methods of teaching at Queen Mary University of London for the biomaterials degrees are discussed.
