Abstract

A curved total internal reflection facet for use as a 908 turning mirror in integrated optical devices is presented. The design exhibits decreased losses and back-reflections compared to standard plain facet mirror designs. Loss measurements and lasing spectra based on serpentine laser devices are presented and show losses as low as 0.57 dB+/-0.02 dB per mirror
