Abstract

Dynamics of a hot electron cloud with an initially Maxwellian electron distribution is considered both numerically and analytically. It is shown that only a small group of the electrons propagates into the plasma but the main group of the electrons is concentrated near the initial location of the cloud. The distribution of the electrons left presents a plateau with the maximum velocity growing linearly with distance.
