Abstract

This case report describes the occurrence of a fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva-like condition in a European shorthair cat. The cat was presented with progressive lameness of its left forelimb. A clinical examination revealed diffuse swelling in the forearm musculature caudopalmar to the carpal joint. Computed tomography showed a cigarshaped, well-circumscribed mass with a shell-like bonedense border. A biopsy was obtained and the histopathology suggested a fibrodysplasia ossificans-like condition. This is apparently the first description of such a disease affecting the forearm musculature in the cat.
