Abstract

How do universities transform their educational provision – from the design of spaces, to timetabling, to developing – and implementing new pedagogies? And how can these different aspects to educational provision be aligned, so that they reinforce each other? Building on the findings of The Guild’s Insight Paper “Reimagining Research-led Education in a Digital Age”, in the latest edition of our virtual seminar series we explore designing and implementing educational change. In the seminar we will discuss the University of Glasgow’s experience of implementing change and the relationship with material/online learning space. Our speakers will also reflect on the potential for agility and swift response to change – exacerbated during the pandemic. In reflecting the university’s approach to research-led education, this seminar will ask how universities can design learning spaces that support active learning. It will explore how students and staff can be involved to take ownership of the spaces. The seminar will also discuss which strategic choices around technology and accessibility need to be considered, and how various teaching approaches can be accommodated in one space. The seminar is aimed at academics, learning technologists, senior managers and support staff interested in changing learning and teaching spaces.
