Abstract

Two compositions, commissioned for BBC Tectonics Festival 2021, and premiered in May 2021 in collaboration with the Scottish Symphony Orchestra. Listener Musics combine various types of sound (instrumental tones, field recordings, pink noise) to consider the role of listening in perceiving and imagining spaces. A minimal ensemble score provides a frame for collapsing together sound materials, testing their relationships and tensions.
