Abstract

The work presented here considers the elastic instabilities experienced by an annular thin filmsubjected to prescribed displacement fields on its two boundaries. It is shown how singular perturbation methods enable an accurate analytical description of the localised wrinkling pattern that sets in near the inner rim of the film. The theoretical results obtained are corroborated by direct numerical simulations of the full problem.
