Abstract

This will be a campfire session, presenting an overview of our Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP) course 'Creative pedagogies for active learning' at the University of Glasgow, Scotland. In this course, we encourage educators in higher education to explore object-based learning, digital storytelling and 'learning landscapes' as pedagogies they can research and apply in their own disciplines. The course has been designed around a theoretical model (Tasler and Dale, 2021) which considers the interactions of teachers, students and places, resulting in identity negotiation and creation of 'spaces' for transformative learning. After sharing our experiences of the course, and that of participants, we will invite delegates around the campfire to reflect on the potential of these creative pedagogies for their own practice, and to suggest alternative creative pedagogies that may be crowdsourced and shared via a Creative Commons license, thus kindling interest for creative pedagogies for active learning beyond this event!
