Abstract

Dominic Feri, a 25-year-old politician from the right-of-centre Czech political party TOP09, has been forced to resign as a candidate for the forthcoming general election in the Czech Republic because it has been discovered that he has been, allegedly, sexually harassing and raping women. But this is not the only problem. According to the World Economic Forum, in its list of world pay equality between men and women, the Czech Republic is globally in the 101st place. Who has created that irrational contempt for the attempts to give women the same rights as men? Jan Čulík talks to Dr. Josef Švéda, the author of "A Promised Land, An Accursed Land", a remarkable monograph about the attitudes of authors of Czech literature to the culture and social mores of the United States of America, about the derogatory attitudes of Czech authors to the Western feminist movement. This interview was broadcast by the Czech cable TV station Regionalnitelevize.cz from 2nd June 2021.
