Abstract

This report has been produced to provide an analysis of the market for the Definition Phase of Project Darwin. This Project aims to explore opportunities for the integration of satellite communications (satcom) in fifth generation mobile applications (5G) with a focus on connected autonomous vehicles (CAVs). The project is co-funded by the European Space agency (ESA) and the Darwin Innovation Group (DIG) and is in the Definition Phase. This market analysis investigates the size of the market both in volume and value, the various vertical industries, users’ behaviour and acceptance, and the challenges and economic environment in terms of influencing factors including regulations and policies. As a result, it provides an overview of the market value for exploring, possible industry verticals for implications, indication of serviceable available markets with added value from satellite and 5G integration, and other influencing factors in the market.
