Abstract

On Tuesday 17th November 2020, on the 31st anniversary of the fall of communism in Czechoslovakia, a demonstration in support of public service television took place in Prague. But does public service Czech TV deserve such defence? Is it sufficiently impartial? And is it even reasonable now, at the when many media, including the BBC, often counterbalance scientific facts with mere unsubstantiated views? Jan Čulík discusses this and other issues with Senator David Smoljak, Member of the Upper House of Czech Parliament, one of the organisers of the demonstration. The interview was broadcast by the Czech cable TV station Regionalnitelevize.cz from Wednesday 18th November 2020.
