Abstract
There is nothing more important than to repeat that with regard to the pandemic, the Czech Republic is now in a catastrophic situation. The number of infections per capita is the largest in the world and there will be many more hospitalisations and many more deaths. But do the Czech citizens take the pandemic seriously? What is the role played by disinformation in this dangerous situation? Conspiracy theories are being disseminated not only on social networks, but, shockingly, even in the mainstream media. Jan Čulík discusses this alarming situation with Bohumil Kartous, the spokesperson of the "Czech Elves" organisation, which monitors the dissemination of fake news in the Czech Republic. The interview was broadcast by the Czech cable TV station Regionalnitelevize.cz from Wednesday 21st October 2020.
