Abstract

This article focuses on how the various regions of the world think about modernity in the sense of time in movies. The author starts with a brief introduction to the time of the film, which is Gil Deleuze's concept of time-image, and focuses on the Brazilian movie "My Delicious French Little Man" (1971) as an example. This unique and wonderful film is famous for its post-colonial importance. It allows us to rethink the exact meaning of time-image in the history of the world. Philosophers such as Melk Halter, Antonio Negri and Anibal Quigano, they made some research conclusions based on the analysis of the world system of Emmanuel Wallerstein, thinking that time- The image expresses the five hundred years of modern history that began when the Americas were discovered. This article is not just to provide a different perspective to think about the concept of time-image, but to try to explain the various modern movie times that are evident in contemporary world films, and take the first step towards a non-European-centric film philosophy.
