Abstract

A new method for calculating the resonance frequency of the TE/sub 01d/ mode in a cylindrical dielectric resonator is presented. The method is based on a variational formula using the calculated 'effective' permittivity of the resonator. A comparison of the theoretical and experimental results shows that the accuracy of the model is very good.
