Abstract

The 2019 International Federation of Surveyors (an anglicisation of Fédération Internationale des Géomètres - FIG) working week was held in Hanoi, Vietnam between 22nd – 26th April. The FIG is the ‘premier international organization representing the interest of Surveyors worldwide’ (FIG.net). They are a World Bank and UN partnered federation with professional and academic members from over 110 countries. These members represent land, engineering and hydrographic Surveyors, cadastral professionals and quantity Surveyors. Working weeks allow for an extended period to present research and for the Commissions – ten groups that perform technical work around set disciplines and themes – to meet. It also includes a schedule of general FIG business meetings. There were additional specialist sessions running over the weekend prior to the main event, on BIM and with the Young Survey Network.
