Abstract

In this communication, a broadband reflective 90° polarization rotator metasurface is presented. The metasurface unit cell is composed of double-slit circular split ring resonator with a Swiss-cross in the middle. A horizontally-polarized normally incident wave is rotated by this metasurface into vertically-polarized wave and vice versa within 3dB fractional bandwidth of 66.6% from 5.7-11.4 GHz. The polarization conversion ratio (PCR) of the proposed polarization rotator is above 75% within the operating band. A broadband polarization rotation is realized because of multiple plasmon resonances at different frequencies.
