Abstract

We report a novel, energy-efficient and compact ultra-broadband short-range wireless communication transmitter technology capable of addressing envisaged future network needs. The transmitter technology is based on resonant tunnelling diodes (RTDs). The RTD sources exhibit up to 1 mW output power in the J-band (220 – 325 GHz) and demonstrate large bandwidth of > 10 Gbps over a range of 0.5 meters.
