Abstract

What to do about fake news which is being disseminated on Facebook and the other social networks? Fake news was destructive in many periods in history. In the 16th century the largest number of "witches" was burned to death in those areas where a large number of unofficial printing offices operated. Facebook refuses to take down fake news which is disseminated in non-English languages, no matter how destructive. This seriously destabilises many countries of the world. Jan Čulík discusses this with Štefan Švec, a well-known ironic commentator from the Czech Republic who publishes his caustic comments on the Novinky.cz website. The interview was broadcast by the Czech cable TV station Regionalnitelevize.cz from 12th April 2019.
