Abstract

By solving the Navier-Stokes equation, the aerodynamic behavior of an unmanned aerial vehicle and cruise missile is predicted and their aerodynamic flowing fields are simulated with the structured mesh technique. The obtained results are found to be in good agreement with previous work and engineering practice. With a CAD-based code, the geometric surface and face-and-wedge models of an unmanned aerial vehicle and cruise missile are generated for calculating their omni-directional radar cross-section (RCS) by using the GRECO-WM algorithm. According to the grey correlation analysis theory, a new quantization model is proposed to evaluate the aerodynamic and stealth combination property of an aircraft. Finally, the model is applied to two sets of unmanned aerial vehicles and three sets of cruise missiles, and the results demonstrate the practical and economic use of the proposed technique. It is shown from these examples that the aerodynamic and stealth combination property of an aircraft can be obtained realistically by means of the new model.
