Abstract

Although a number of transition-metal compounds containing terminal alkylimido-ligands are known, ¹H—¹⁴N spin—spin coupling has apparently not been observed in their n.m.r. spectra. We report the preparation and characterisation of several alkylimido-derivatives of tungsten hexafluoride in which spin—spin coupling interactions involving ¹⁴N are observed. The observation of n.m.r. parameters involving ¹⁴N enables structural assignments to be made.
