Abstract

Eight limonoids, carapolides C 2, D 3, E 4, F 5, G 6, H 7 and I 8 and evodoulone 13 have been isolated from the extracts of the seeds of Carapa grandiflora (Meliaceae). Compounds 2, 3 and 4 are new C-9, C-10 cleaved tetranortriterpenoids while 5 and 6 are novel tetranortriterpenoid spirolactones. Finally, carapolides H 7 and I 8 are new ring A cleaved derivatives with an intact ring D. All their structures were determined from spectroscopic data and chemical correlations.
