Abstract

Using an integrated luminosity of 0.69 fb−1 collected by LHCb in 2011, we report measurements of direct and mixing-induced CP violation in B0 → π +π − and B0 s → K+K− decays. We obtain A dir ππ = 0.11 ± 0.21 ± 0.03, A mix ππ = −0.56 ± 0.17 ± 0.03, A dir KK = 0.02 ± 0.18 ± 0.04, A mix KK = 0.17 ± 0.18 ± 0.05, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The correlations are found to be ρ(Adir ππ, Amix ππ ) = −0.34 and ρ(Adir KK, Amix KK) = −0.10. The measurements of Adir ππ and Amix ππ are compatible with those from the B factories and yield 3.2σ evidence of mixing-induced CP violation, whereas Adir KK and Amix KK are measured for the first time ever.
