Abstract
This note discusses a first comprehensive listing of the land surveyors resident in Glasgow and actively employed in the profession prior to 1854, in which details of residence, partnership, training and commissions, particularly in the West of Scotland, are given. It includes a brief account of certain aspects in the surveying of the city.
