Abstract

The session will consider what constitutes ‘effective’ education in relation to both patients and professionals. It will draw on relevant theory in relation to how education may be made most effective for patients and for professionals. The challenges of providing effective education and evaluating its effectiveness will be discussed, using some examples from literature. Strategies for enhancing the impact of education will be considered, focussing mainly on patient education.
